mitski is a vessel for our collective grief, inviting us to sit with sorrow and loss, as well as our complicities within them. she is a mediator between beauty and fragility, earth and sky, growth and decay, destruction and guilt, hope and hopelessness, reminding us of how entangled We all are. both earth and humanity, as they are inseparable. she is possessed by earth’s distress signals, embodying forest fire, torrential storm, earthquake– swept away in this self-made crisis that has grown out of our control. her surrender is an opening, a crack in our denial, a return to the soil, a reunion with the body of the earth, an answer to the call to die well.
